LAPPY UPDATER 1.2.1

1. Extract the ZIP to a folder on your laptop.
2. Open Lappy Updater.app (Mac) or Lappy Updater.exe (Windows).
3. The updater opens in Chrome or Edge. Keep the application running.
4. Finish your Lappy session and stop recording, then connect it by USB
using a data-capable cable. Close other serial monitors / Lappy tools.
5. Choose the .lappy firmware package supplied by the owner.
6. Click Connect & update, then select Lappy in the browser's USB picker.
7. Keep the cable connected and the page open through backup, install
and verification. Check that Lappy starts normally before unplugging.
8. Click Close updater when finished.

LANGUAGE
Use EN / 中文 in the header to switch between English and Simplified Chinese.
Your choice is saved on this laptop and reused when the updater reopens.
The first launch follows the browser language. Switching during an update
keeps the selected file and progress. Supplied release notes and technical
diagnostics retain their original language.

No internet, Python, Node, paid domain or developer tools are required.
Chrome or Edge must already be installed. Safari is not supported.

DOWNLOADS
Mac: the universal app supports Apple Silicon and Intel (macOS 13+).
Windows: use x64 on most PCs; use ARM64 on Windows on ARM (Windows 10/11).
The .lappy firmware package is identical on both operating systems.

FIRST OPEN
These initial builds are unsigned by a commercial developer identity.
The Mac app has a local ad-hoc signature, not Apple notarization.
If macOS blocks a downloaded app, use System Settings > Privacy & Security
to approve this app after checking its source. Windows may also ask for
approval to run a downloaded application. Organization policies may block
unapproved apps. No administrator privileges are needed by the updater.

DEVICE SUPPORT
This version updates recognized Lappy V2 Rev1.1 releases with the current
factory-app partition layout. It does not provision a blank ESP32, migrate
partition tables, install a new bootloader or update V1 hardware.
Raw .bin files and the historical source/release ZIPs are not accepted.

BACKUPS AND RECOVERY
A verified full 16 MB flash backup is saved before any firmware write:
  <your home folder>/Documents/Lappy Updater/Backups/
The application and its backup contain device information; keep backups
private. Settings, pairing and saved results are retained by writing only
the application region. microSD files are not copied or modified.

If installation is interrupted, keep Lappy connected and retry using the
same .lappy package on the same laptop. The original good backup is kept.
If Lappy is not listed, follow the BOOT/reset recovery procedure tested for
your enclosure, then retry. Ask the owner for USB recovery if necessary.
This updater does not provide automatic rollback or guarantee recovery
from hardware faults. A completed write is verified; normal startup must
still be checked on Lappy's screen.

FUTURE UPDATES
Keep the updater and download the next .lappy file. Only replace the
updater itself when the owner releases a new updater version.

Use Update activity > Save activity log when asking for help.
